What Parent Coaching IS — and What it's NOT?
Think of a coach as a personal guide who helps you get clear on where you want to go — and supports you in getting there. Coaching is for people who are doing okay but want to do better: maybe you want to feel calmer as a parent, set clearer boundaries, or simply show up more confidently for your kids. A coach believes you already have the answers within you — they just help you find them.
What coaching is NOT:
Coaching is not therapy. A coach is not a mental health professional and cannot treat depression, anxiety, trauma, or other mental health conditions. If you're in crisis or dealing with unresolved trauma, a therapist is the right support — and there's no shame in that.
Coaching is also not someone telling you what to do. A coach mostly asks the right questions so you can find your own answers.
A simple way to think about it:
🌱 A therapist focuses on helping you heal from your past.
✨ A coach helps you build your future.
Both are valuable — they just serve different needs.
You will recognize and understand your own behaviors, triggers, and emotional responses. By recognizing and addressing these aspects, you can foster a healthier relationship with yourself and your children.
You will better understand your child’s development, temperament, and behavior. You will be able to see the world through your child's eyes, enabling more compasionate and effective communication.
From setting boundaries to nurturing independence, you will be equipped with tools and strategies to lead your families from a place of connection, compassion and confidence.
What does a Parent Coaching Session Look Like?
Coaching sessions will usually begin with a "check in" to share what's working and what's not working. We will focus on your own personal real-life parenting situations, concerns or challenges.
From there we'll set intentions or goals related to what you want to get out of the sessions.
Together we'll explore beneath the surface of the problem to reflect both on your kids' behaviours along with your own feelings, needs, thoughts, beliefs. This will help create understanding of your own parenting patterns and also understanding what your child's behaviour is trying to communicate.
Then we can discuss action steps and practice strategies that might be helpful to relieve stress, uncertainty and frustration within your parenting interactions.
Coaching helps you define and clarify your parenting objectives, guiding you on the path to achieving them with confidence and focus.
Learn to identify your triggers and build awareness of your nervous system. With coaching, you'll develop the skills to calm your mind, body, and emotions, allowing you to be fully present for both yourself and your children.
Tap into your innate parenting wisdom and regain the confidence needed to navigate challenges with ease. We’ll empower you with science-based practices that align with your unique family dynamics.
Let go of the guilt and shame that hold you back. Our compassionate coaching approach teaches self-compassion and self-forgiveness, enabling you to parent from a place of peace and authenticity.
Build a strong emotional foundation for yourself and your children. We will share tools to foster emotional health, helping your family thrive through life’s ups and downs.
Develop meaningful and trusting relationships with your children. Our coaching is rooted in empathy and understanding, guiding you to cultivate connections that are rich in trust and secure attachment.
